This is the Chinese Ipod Nano It is smaller and cheaper and also filled with feature that ipod nano could only dream of. Even Sony should be proud of the player even though their name was faked on it. An ipod nano cost around 7000 Rs that’s the best deal you can get and the Chinese nano only costs 1500 Rs. So you could buy 4 Chinese Nano’s.
You thought nano was smaller wait till you see this. Look how small it looks beside a pen. Its so tiny that you can put it in your pocket without you even knowing its their.
Back side of the player is plain like nano. And it even looks rugged than a scratchy nano.
Its just more than a pen in the width. But still not by much.The controls are really nice too, just easy to learn and look at them they are labeled well and are easy to use. Just like all the other players after rigorous use you have to press them littler harder but by this time Ipod Nano would be dead with battery problems or scratch problems so don’t worry.Now some features about the player. Its has 256 Mb memory out of which 241 is available for use. if you encode your songs at 8K its more than 500 songs. Even at 32 k you can get more than 100 songs. Thats more than 6 to 8 hours of music. Don’t listen to anyone who says about quality because no matter which mp3 player you buy you will not get better quality than this even on a ipod nano. But still it better than nano why read bel ow.
Its got inbuilt fm radio so you will get more music and you don’t have to carry any adapters like the nano. I have heard fm radio in cities like chennai and bangalore on this and the quality is fine. Not only that when you are listing to your favorite songs if you want to record it you can do that too. If you record in the format that is specific to the player it can record each song for less 100 kb or so. you can later convert that song into mp3 on your PC or just keep it like that and listen to it on your player and computer.
The menu system is very simple you click the center button to activate what ever you seen on screen and the side way arrows are for navigation. The top button is for the menu and below one is also for navigation. The volume is controlled by the side way arrow keys also.Even with my crappy photos you can see the navigation system well. But in reality the menu are really good looking and readable and the player is quite responsive.
There is a cool animation that comes up on the screen when ever its shuts down or stars up. Which is quite nice feature. You will be stunned to see the video of it for the first time on such a small screen. When you turn the player on with the button on top it switches on and plays a video and go to sleep then when you press the play button the player starts playing. so that nice.
Here is the screen that you will see when the songs is playing. As you can see it shows quite a lot of information which is quite readable. you can see the bit rate and format of the song. Repeat option, equalizer, time of the songs and the amount of time finished, name of the folder, name of the songs. and below you can see the number of the song in the folder and the total number of songs. and the volume icon with number indication 27. It can go up to 40 so you know the volume is quite loud. and then at Last the battery indicator. There is also another nice feature you can see the lyrics for the songs as you play them. But there is some work to be done to get the lyrics. you can download a plugin called Lyrics II whi ch is a winamp plugin play your songs with the plugin switched on you see the lyrics. Now go to that folder and copy the .lrc files and put them on the player and they will show up when you press and hold the menu button while the songs is playing. more details about the battery read on.The battery life is more than 10 hours in my experience. You can customize the screen to go dark after one second to any where between 10 seconds which will improve battery life even further. You can even set the brightness of the screen to improve battery life.
It has some nice features like this text reader which can be used for any file that is .txt format. it could be some address a book or shopping list anything. So its really helpful. just copy the .txt file that you created in your notepad and it shows up in the text reader from their you can read it. As you can see quite well at that. For nano you need to convert file using some program, here its just txt files.
Another feature is voice recorder. As you can see my player was full and I still could record 4 minutes of voice or fm radio songs. if the player is empty or like 100 Mb I can record more than 15 hours or so. Which is really nice. As you can see the file format is .act which is player specific which can be converted on your computer to mp3 using the provided software. Even nano needs encoding and converting.Other features are Video player which needs converting and works just fine. There is also a photo viewer. Which you need to make images small which can be done by any number of programs. Similar to nano since the screen is small these feature are not for much use other than showing off which is what we want to do.
The power adaptor is so small that its looks bigger than the player. But still nice features two lights that indicate when its charging and when its full. The power adapter has pins that fold into the adapter so its easier to carry them anywhere.
The USB cable can be used as the charging cable too. So one less wire to carry when you connect the player to the computer it chargers that way too. So those are nice options. The whole audio solution is just handful. Means you can carry the whole thing in your one hand. Can you say that about your nano.
Below the player has the USB port and the top has a power button so no buttons all over the place which is nice.There are more features like the auto switch off and other small features which makes it better than nano. I don’t need itunes or anything like that just connect it to the pc and it shows up has a removable drive. just drag and drop files.Conclusions.My biggest worry was that since the player was made by chinese or that’s what it says on the player i was worried about the quality. But after six months of use its still working fine and in perfect condition. Its not the same story for some of the ipod Nano they are scratched, battery has lost its power etc. Since the price is low i could buy four of them before they reach the same price as the nano. Like all the players after quite a bit use the buttons become a bit hard but still more than usable.The player is so good that i have used it to recorded 75 songs through fm radio for the last six months and its really easy to do too. Ya.. I have an MP4 also.. It’s infact 1giga and it’s much cheaber than Ipod and it has more features than Ipod..
It plays stuff, you need to download a software and convert the movies tothe player formart similar to the ipods.I have been using it for one year now with out any problem.It has movies and is capable of playing them, when ever the player is switchedon or off it plays small movies.Don’t expect much from such a small screen. and its not like you have paid asmuch as an ipod or anything.
I purchased a similar chinese 2GB MP4 Player on ebayfor Rs.2200, it has inbuilt speakers. Earphone was of low quality, found out that memory capacity was a fake, only 475MB was the real usable capacity, those cheats would alter the FAT of the player to report as 2GB on windows. So in the ad they have mentioned as “Donot format the player, as you may not get the full factory formatted capacity of the player”, all bullshit, i had used HP’s tool to format it correctly using FAT16 format.To find out if the memroy capacity is genuine or not, try copying the data to the player’s full capacity, if its fake, you cannot copy, or after copying you cannot access the file/folder etc.FM Radio makes use of earpphone to work as antenna, so no radio if you don’t connect the earphone. Radio quality is not so good.Now after a month of use the battery’s dead, its not recharging.Donot buy these fakes, go for only genuine one’s.
This is not an ad from me this is my personal experience.I wrote on my review that my player only has 256 mb but it works fine for that mb.When you pay 2000 Rs for a 2Gb you have to questions why its so low.Mine i knew it was 256 mb and that 256 mb works fine, even after a years use itsworking fine. I use to listen to podcast everyday day for three to four hours so youknow i have used it quite a bit.About the radio. Mine works without the headphone. There is a radio built into theplayer and it doesn’t need the player head phones.I never said this was the best thing in the world.But for such a small price and such a small form factor this is the best thing you canbuy in india atleast.Even if you buy two of them it will be cheaper than the other companies ones that arecharing like 5000 Rs for 512 mb for less features.Thank for commenting and letting people to watch out for this problem.prasanth

what are you talking about.Its better than apple’s ipod. half the price thrice the features even after a years use and numerous falls from my hand. Its still working fine no battery loss or scrathes.I am not sure what you are talking about. just few days back i even found how to hack the firmware. by using which i could change the whole user interface which i will be doing this summer.So if you want an half backed product that was in the first place manufactured in china go ahead and buy an ipod.

I told that it would be half the memory of your current player.Because when i did it mine came to half.It sad to see you only got 25% of your memory atleast nowall the files will work.Here is trick encode all your mp3′s into 8K which wouldmake a song 400 kb and you will be able to fit more than450 songs on it.And the quality will not be that noticible different.

The player does not save the time and date.But there is not much use for that unless you want the thefile created to show that date. Then just before recording goand set the date and time and then record. Once you switchoff the player it looses its time and date settings.About recording from fm all your have to do is when you arelistening to radio click and hold the menu button and it shouldstart recording or if it doesn’t click the menu button from therego and choose recording. These Chinese Ipods are worthless.The carton and the logo mentioned boldly as 1GB but in reality it was around 256 MB. The quality is not all that gr 8 and its one more cheap chinese imitation which is flimsy . Go in for the original with warranty and other stuff for peace of mind.
At four times the price of an ipod i would go for the chinese one.Yes the memory is a scam but still for all those feature and450 mb real memory its only 1500 Rs. that include inbuiltspeaker and fm radio with recording function.As i mentioned in my review i could buy four of these thanbuy an ipod which has less battery life no other featuresand 10 times as heavey and as big as this.mine is still working after 1 year and few months.You just need to find that is good and working. that’s it

The latest one whch I got is the one you have reviewed (MP4 with video playback)…The other one is a small Blue monochrome player…U seem to be an xpert in these things. Your suggestion of converting Mp3 to 8 Bit is superb. I was frantically searching for a freeware software to do this…Tried many rippers, CDEX, Easy ripper etc but it was not able to encode at the rate of 8 bits…I finally hit across a ripper Meowmultisound but the maximum compression is 32 Bits (A 6 Mb file is converted to about 2 MB which is fairly good)….Can you suggest an Mp3 Converter at 8 Bits?

When in radio mode select the mode button and itshould give you options to select bands and in mineis said japanese or something else.Just select the other one.And that solved my problem so try that.See the options when in radio and try to select differentbands.

If the player is fully charged one of the lights goes off onthe charger.You can also switch off the player when chargin to get itcharged quicker.About comparing to ipod, see that is the whole point whenyou player is damaged just get a new one.You could buy 4 of these by the time you would replaceone ipod.

Sorry to inform you this.Because these things are so cheap i don’t think you canbuy the cables alone.Your best bet would be to go to the shop that repairs mp3sor sells these. and ask if they have any damaged mp3s if sothen you can offer them to pay for usb cable which they wouldhave throwed away.

check and see if you have selected the intro option in the repeat menu. to change it hold the menu button while the song is playing and click on repeat and then change that to normal. About the lights on the charger the red is to tell you that the charger is working and yellow or green is to tell you the mp3 is charging and once its charged the green light will go off to indicate the charging is complete.
The only solution i can think of is changing the usb cable.try bending the usb cable to see if the pc can detect the mp4 player.good luck.

Hi, recently i bought a fake apple ipod Mp4 player(chinese). In that every thing is working fine, but while installing the amv converter software from the cd, it is saying some file is missing from MSI.cab, then i stopped installing from cd and i searched on web for amv converter tool. There are many sites which offer this software, but after installing i converted some MPEG files to .amv format and copied into my ipod, but still it is saying “Format Error”. Could pls help me how to get rid of this situation.Thanks…
since i can only have so much information here are my suggesstions you can try. hope they work for you.i am guessing you are finding the file on the player without any problems.just play the file on the pc and see if its working. Try a smaller file with only few seconds of video.and if you have the original sample video that came with the player, try and copy it on to the pc andsee the size of it and copy the video in similar format.Try all these and if they don’t work try also formatting the player to the correct size as mentioned inthe above comments.These players play videos so don’t worry you are not cheated. Just try to doing all the above mentionedsteps and let me know.
I got a 2gb for my son and it works very well. Just one matter. Voice recording was set to save in a certain directory. The directory was deleted in a clean-up. Then when I tried to save a new recording in this non-existing directory, the memory was completely cleaned. (no more files at all). I think this is a firmware error. Can you please confirm. Pointing to an existing directory works fine. Thanks.
Since these things are not that well tested may be there is a firmware error. i have never saved the files other than default folder so thats a good heads up. So to all the people reading this save the recordings in the local folder and don’t change the folders.
Hi, recently i bought an fake apple ipod, in that ‘charging’ is getting completed with in an half an hour. I’m charging it completly, even though, after listining to 6 to 7 songs, charging is getting completed. Can i change the battery of the ipod or is there any other way to get rid of this situation
The battery takes around three to four hours to charge like a mobile. Try also Reducing the brightness of the display and putting the screen to sleep after a few seconds which can be done by going to the settings section. If that doesn’t help, you might have to buy a new device. As far as i know there is no way to replace batteries because these devices are cheap so no one repairs them.
Hello, I bought what I thought was an 8gb Apple Ipod Nano on Ebay. It is actually a fake Ipod that was sent from China. When I plug it in to the USB on my computer it shows in MY Computer as a Removable Disk E with 7.98 GB, but it also shows as Removable Disk F called Other, with .98 MB. I was wondering why it shows as 2 external drives? My main question is how to get all the songs to play on it? I am not able to access your link to mympxplayer for user manual info. I get errors and no info. I am determined to be able to use this and need help with using playlists and folders. I have tried dragging individual mp3 files or folders to the E: drive. They may show up on the ipod, but when I click on them to play they just play one of the original 13 songs I put on the ipod. I am wondering if in fact I don’t have 8gb or if I am just not getting something on how to get these songs to play. I was hoping to put 8 gb worth of songs on here and be able to select songs by playlists or individually. This was packaged as an Apple ipod, it says apple on the case and on the screen when it comes on. Of course the scroll wheel does not turn. It has the fm radio that works and I am able to put pictures on it. Please…any help would be most appreciated! Thanks in advance!!!

Does it at least show that a usb device has been plugged in and as for drivers, or just doesn’t show anything when you plug the device in. As far i know there is no work around if the device is not itself detected. Try different usb cable if that doesn’t solve the problem there is not much else you can do other than buy a new device.

Try putting a single file which is around 100 Mb and it will fail.Once you format you will know the exact size of your player.After formatting the player should work fine, all the files you put on it will also work fine.If you want to check you can go to the place where you bought this player and see on the page they would have mentioned not to format the player. That’s because they don’t want you to find out what the actually size of the player.Other than the fake memory size the player should work fine.It could be a 2 GB player or so. Because when 2Gb players are formatted people are getting only 512 mb or so. Let me know how much is your actually size after formatting.good luck
The VL-527 Media player will take any standard usb adapter cable the would be used for a device like the Pearl. These adapters can be purchased at most stores that sell computer parts. They normally come in kits which feature all of the most popular connectors.

Nothing happens when I plug it in the USB ports.hai… guess… it got screwed up when my cousins plugged it in in their computer which was “grounded”.Well, at least I can still turn it on and play the songs I saved in it.But as for being detected by my computer…it’s hopeless.
i think you might have did the wrong upgrade because you can still see the files its working as a drive but not as a player. so try and see if they have the original version and try to upgrade again, i really don’t recommend upgrading these players because they are so flacky in th fisrt place.
try moving your usb cable when its plugged in, since the point of the of cable is small and get can easily loose after time. when its connected to pc try moving it and see if it detects or try a different cable that too seems to solve the problem.

my dad gave me a china 1GB looks like nano ipod mp4 plyer.it was OK, i synchronized my songs into it, works FINE.but in the ipod, there were other songs even before i got it, so i deleted it. when i was trying to delete one song, my ipod auto-restarts. then when i checked my playlists, it was empty!!worst thing is that evrything is empty but in my setting, it is stated that 99% of the space is used up! can anyboday tell me wat to do????i spoiled it the day i got it!!!!

That is happening because the video files are very big try converting them at a smaller bit rate.Good luck.

I you don’t want to risk breakingyou player i recommend you not try it.About the syncing problem with windows player since i don’t have the exact model i don’t know have a work around for that.thank youprasanth

i have an mp4 from china also. when i first use it runs ok but after charging the mp4,when i turn it “on” it just display a screen with an”our glass logo” in the middle. i try reseting it like what the manual said,but its not working. pls….help me….

reply to jolaThe only advice i can give you is let the battery drain completely.Even when its completely done try switching it on few moretimes then it should be completely power less.Then recharge it fully and connect it to the computer andformat the player and put the files again and see that helps.try not to put too many folders and even if you put folders tryto limit the files in each folder to below 99 files.If this doesn’t help i think you player might be defective.

reply to amanThere is not much support for these players so I really wantto help you so i am throwing every possible reason i can think.Are the id tags in english or some special characters like russianor some other language.that could be also the reason.try putting an mp3 with just few characters in the id3 tag.also there are two versions of id3 tags if you use winamp you cansee it go for the most compatable version.try different files from different place and see if that solves the problem.good luck.
reply to kunalFirst of all its different for different models.Here is how it happens in my player when the fmradio is playing click on the menu button and fromthe list select “fine rec” or “long rec”one will record at very good quality but will make big fileone will record at low quality but will make a small file.Once you select that option you will see a recorder whichrecords.to save the file go to menu and do accordingly.good luck

hello again prasanth…..my mp4 is still not charging as it should be….it just works for like 1 hour maximum with even touching….i,vechanged it to darkmode as 5 seconds but still it doesnt work….should i getthe battery repared or buy a new one???Reply from Prasanth Is your battery showing full when its finished charging and still draining out withinhour of usage. After finishing charging look and see if that battery meter is full. Ifit is then i am guessing its a defective battery i have heard that you can repair thembut i don’t know any place that do it. Since the players are so cheap a better optionwould be to buy a new one.The usb cables that come with player get bad after a few months so it could also bethat they are not charging the player when you put them to charge check and see forthat too.

Hello Prashanth,I too have a 2GB MP4 player (similar to all above), and have a problem playing a few MP3 files. While playing certain MP3 files, the player restarts. The size of these mp3 files is approx 6MB. But I have other 6MB and 7MB files on the player, which work fine. The version is cm60026 act_v9.0.50. I can send you the mp3 file, if you like to check. These mp3 files work fine on the PC.
