Thank God terrorist like Cricket.
I was always afraid about this, there aim is not to attack military installation etc. Their main aim is to create panic and what better way to create panic than hit the place we consider our playgrounds. All those football match, cricket matches, rugby matches, tennis matches they are so vulnerable. So many people gathered at a single place, even the security guys are distracted by the game on the field. It would be quite easy to carry an attack. So I was happy to hear that because one of the terrorist liked cricket he refused to plan an attack on the cricket team. Here is the quote from the article on cricinfo.
“According to Hafiz, 32, the bombers were instructed to get jobs as stewards at Edgbaston and spray sarin gas inside the changing rooms. The second Test between England and Australia began on August 4.
Hafiz, whose family have known the Hussains for 25 years, said he had received details of the bombers’ visit from members of his extended family, who were involved in running the camp.
He claimed Tanweer, 22, objected to the plot, possibly because he himself was a cricketer. He was told by a witness that Tanweer argued with Khan, 30, and a scuffle between them had to be broken up by a minder. ”
So we really have to be mindful no matter where we are. If only we could make the terrorist love people this world would have been a different place.

My old phone which I will be changing soon.
The T630 comes after a very successful model Sony made which was T610. First let me tell you about the size, it quite small in form factor and fits very well in your hand. It has a very good-looking screen and the keypad is well laid out in the small form factor of the phone they had. This phone has very few buttons on it. Only four buttons are on the phone other than the numeric keypad. One is dedicated to camera, two are for controlling the volume and the other one is the power button. With only a few buttons this phone looks really compact. It has quite good battery life you can go two to three days without charging the phone after normal use. The voice quality and other phone features are up to the mark. You can only use midi files as ring tones but there are many nice features like photo caller id and setting different ring tones for different users and voice dialing facility etc. This phone has all the features of the phone in this category have. It has a good enough camera for a phone and can connect to a PC through blue tooth, infrared or USB cable (which you have to buy separately). The user interface of the phone is very well designed all the controls and settings are easy to access. The main controller for this phone is a joystick, which makes it easier to move between the menus, and is really fun to use while playing games. Ones you use the phone for a few days you will be able to fly through the menus using the numeric
keypad shortcuts. For example if you press “menu+0+6” you will get the calculator which other wise you would have had to click menu and move the joy stick to the particular category and from there select the calculator function. So that is a big plus because the previous model of this phone was adored by the geek’s who came up with all kind of software for the phone. So if you are into computer this is really good phone because you can customize it in so many ways you can download themes or make themes yourself with the software you can download online. You can even use this phone to control your computers from far away with blue tooth (that software doesn’t come with phone you have to go Internet and find it and install it). It has gprs and mms and email facilities too which are integrated very well into the phone. The gprs browser is really easy to use. Most of the html site are readable on the phone, the mobile specific site are even easier to use. The sms facility is also very well implemented. Small thing like when you are typing an sms if you get a call the sms is saved in unsent items folder, which is nice. The email facility is also easy to use but it a bit tricky with quite a few setting to setup. I never got it to work but I think I never looked into it that much. The phone doesn’t have audio or video players. But if you are good with computers you can convert songs and put them on the player in a player specific format. Since the memory is only 2 MB you can get one or two songs on the phone if you want. There is no memory slot, which is a let down. The phone has java-programming language built in, so you can have quite a few programs, which can be loaded on to the phone from a pc. The phone doesn’t come with any software for the pc so you need to look on the Internet there are free programs that help you load java programs on to the phone. You can find them quite easily on the net. There are even quite a few free java games, which you can find online which can be loaded on to the phone. This phone is also quite well built and is rugged, even after dropping it quite a few times, one of that drops was into a bucket full of water and ones even while traveling at 60 kph in rain it still works. So after using this phone for many days I think, this is good phone with a nice form factor and lots of features. If you are into customizing you phone and using many programs and changing themes and ring tones you will love this phone. Since the price of this phone has come way down now you have no excuse not to buy this phone.
transfer the address book from your old phone to new one
Now a days the mobile companies are offering 500 to 1000 contacts capacity on your mobiles address book. But the sim cards on your mobile can only store up to 250 or so then how do you transfer them on to your new mobile. Here are the solutions.
First one is copy them to sim and then put the sim in your new phone and copy all of them on to your new phone. Now see up to where the new phone has the address book then go and delete those file on your old phone and copy the rest. Do this until you have it completely.
The other method is first go to this site and register and give your phone model number and the phone number and they send you the settings for remote sync, now go to your phone and give the username and password and remote sync, most of the new phone and old ones too offer this feature. It takes like five minutes for 500 contacts. Once its done your can see all your contact online at the above mentioned site by giving your password. Now go to the tool section there they have a option if you got a new mobile, add you new mobile phone and sync again. Now you will have your contacts back on your new mobile. You need to have gprs connection for this one to works. It works in India too I have tried it.
Forget buying DVD, Rent DVD’s in India, our answer to netflix
Two new companies have launched service recently to rent DVD’s for a fee. It different because you can do this from your computer you select the DVD’s and they send them and once you see them put them in the cover they came in and send it back and get new ones. Since the services are just starting they only have few cities now. If anyone has tried it let me know how the service is. One charges around 400 Rs for one month. One service even offer home delivery. Here are the sites that are offering these services Cinesprite and Seventymm

Too Much Choice is Not good
Who says having many choices is good. I am looking into buying a mobile but am so tired of choosing. Everyone of them i select has one thing missing.
I finally settle for one that works as a PDA and has phone capabilities etc ipaq for 18000 Rs. But its only available online, so i am worried what happens when i have some problem with the unit. I recently bought a playstation 2 from indiatimes.com and they sent me a faulty controller and i have been mailing them and so far no response it has been more than 2 weeks or so. So i am afraid of buying this online.
So i settle to buy them in store in person, so i can’t have the pda atleast not at the same price. So i go for other phones like nokia n70 for 18000 Rs but when i do some research i found that there are so many n series phone that its hard to choose. For example there is Nokia N 70, 71, 72, 73, and N 80. I like the Nokia N 80 but its way too pricey around 25000 Rs. so i will have to settle for something like Nokia N70.
Then i found those odd deal on rediff and other sites where i can get a treo 600 for 14000 Rs and another Motorola A780 for 13500 Rs. But both are very old.
so still undecided i went and looked for sony Eriksson phones. And found the M600 which is a super phone if only it had a camera. Everything i want it has touch screen and all the stuff but no camera. Why are you doing this to me.
I found a phone that has all the things i want a touch screen a good camera but its from nokia called nokia 6708 for 18000 Rs and they are not known for their touch screens so i am still searching. we let you know which one i will buy.
Who says choice is a good thing. Atleast i am not enjoying this..

Concrete used in Narmada dam can lay 22500 km road
I actually went to this page for the Narmada dam story and got distracted by the xbox 360 ad. I have to get my priorities straight. Did you guys know this “This is the second largest dam in the world in terms of concrete used and it can lay a 22,500 km long concrete road which can encircle the equator,” executive engineer of the project Ashok Gajjar told PTI. The Grand Kollig dam in the United States is the largest dam in the world in terms of concrete used.” That would make quite a few roads in India good. But I am not sure how useful a dam is when people whom it being built for are protesting.

Have you seen the Indian xbox 360 commercial
I saw it on this page on rediff, What’s with the video ad’s rediff that’s for another time. In the ad Akshay kumar and Yuvraj singh go to a village and see the villages do all kind of acrobatics and are really surprised, then they realize that the villagers are playing xbox 360. Interesting ad none the less. Whom are they targeting with the ad. Villagers or kids, gamers in villages i don’t get it.

How to get your way in this world with 20$
Here is an interesting article I found on a blog. It points to a PDF about a persons experiment, who used 20$ bills to get his way. It really an interesting read, will it work in India, if so what will the 20$ equivalent in India be. I don’t think you can do it India in public though, but it will work the exact amount is hard to nail down.
Read the blog here and the PDF here.
