According to the reports recently. Iphone could be coming soon to BSNL. Which is great because BSNL offer an unlimited data plan for pre paid customers.
Unlimited data plan is a must if you want to use the iphone fully. So its a good news that bsnl will be getting the iphone with 3G service soon. Bsnl are the only providers who give unlimited data plan at the moment.
I am currently using the iphone with bsnl pre paid sim with unlimited data plan. The only thing I miss with bsnl is the roaming facility. I have to pay by the usage when I am roaming. I would pay twice what I pay or even around 600 Rs per month for a unlimited data plan that works any where in India even when roaming.
Hope bsnl fixes that when they release iphone with bsnl.

Not meaning to be rude, just letting you know how wrong you are. I’ve an unlimited usage & download/upload data connection from MTNL on my mobile for about 2 years now for which I pay a flat Rs.349+taxes. Similarly, I also have an Idea connection with same kind of unlimited data plan for which I pay Rs.315+taxes. Airtel sometime back started offering unlimited data plan for about Rs.500+taxes. Last time I checked, Vodafone didn’t have any unlimited plan. I know about just these service providers, maybe some other might also be providing unlimited usage, its no big deal nowadays.So there you are with your statement that only BSNL provides unlimited usage, eh! 
Btw, you have to pay charges as per usage even on BSNL network in roaming? If yes then that sucks! My MTNL mobile goes to BSNL network on roaming & I’ve never paid a dime extra apart from the flat monthly fee for data usage, roaming charges only on voice call & text messages.

And also that works with iphone. Both airtel and vodafone are the official providers of iphone in India and they don’t give unlimited data access. You have to choose special plans for iphone which have no unlimited data.I pay only 199 Rs + taxes for unlimited data usage and pay as per usage while roaming.Since you mentioned mtnl provides a data plan that works even when roaming, i would like to get that but MTNL only provides accounts to users in Mumbai. So its nice if you are in that city.The main providers i was talking about are the one that work all over India like Airtel, Reliance, Hutch. MTNL has been operating in Delhi for ages!
But yeah, right now only Delhi & Mumbai has MTNL while for other places there’s BSNL both of which complement each other.Btw, Airtel & Vodafone don’t give you unlimited data plan if you take it with iPhone. What if you have an unlocked one & get an unlimited usage plan from them without telling them its gonna be used on an iPhone? I think it should work then!Btw, its your blog & how you handle things is entirely up to you but I’d recommend that you post replies as your own comment instead of editing others’ comments & putting a reply there since that will come off as rude to a lot of people that you are editing their comments(even if you don’t actually change the content of comment & just add your reply at the end). Just thought I’d point it to ya, a friendly suggestion. 
Reply from Prasanthunlocked iphones work on airtel but then why waste money buying iphone at that cost and lose warranty by unlocking. i have used iphone on airtel with a data card sim and it works. But my iphone i bought it unlocked and its not 3G. i don’t know if they block the unlocked 3G iphones.All i was trying to tell there was these companies don’t offer unlimited as their default plan for iphone.About MTNL its only for those two cities outside it you have to rely on BSNL. I was talking about major provider that have network all over India. Same problem with IDEA, AIRCELL etc they don’t work all the places.I edit the comments because sometimes people leave their mobile numbers and emails in comments so i edit them out. All the comments go on the site only after i authorize them. i allow comments with out my replies, but most of the time they are asking me some questions so its a better way to answer to the question like this rather than making another comment.Making comment to reply to comment is fine if only one comment is on the page. But when many comments are there people have to search for my replies this way they will get the answer below the comment. Which is a lot more useful rather than reading a page full of question before you get to my answer. And i also get to thank the reader for their comment etc. i like replying to all the comments so its easier too.And by the way all my replies are clearly marked with Reply from Prasanththank youprasanthhttp://www.prasanthtechblog.com
There are threaded comment plugins available for WP, search for them, they’ll solve your problem. Or you can install WP Comment Remix which will include twitter like reply option, so in your reply comment there will be a link to the comment to which you are replying! And with that you can also reply from the admin screen without having to go to the post page to reply!

Dear Prasanth,could you please clarify… u have a pre-paid or a post -paid bsnl connection? their website mentions that this unltd data plan for gprs of Rs.199 is available only for post paid customers…apart from this could u also post bsnl gprs settings for iphone…appreciate your help !Reply from PrasanthThe 199 unlimited bsnl plan is only available for post paid customers.Now i am using airtel data card sim that gives me unlimited gprs anywhere in India for 1200 Rs per month. Which is a bit costly but i can use web anywhere in india with my iphone.You can find the bsnl gprs settings here. Gprs settings depend on the area you are from. Select the reasion and put the apn it shows on your iphone and you should be good. If after putting the correct apn if the gprs is not working restart the iphone with the settings and then try.Thank you
