Htc Hero I recommend

htc hero i recomend

Recently someone asked me on twitter after my Htc Hero post. If i would recommend others buying this phone. I wanted to give him a detailed reply but on twitter you can only write so much. So here is what i think about the phone.

It is a really good phone that will cost you around 32000 Rs. So what do you get for this kind of money. A open phone with android 1.5 operating system. Here are some of the notable specs.

5 mega pixel auto focus camera, GPS, 3G and an open operating system.

It comes with ROM: 512 MB and RAM: 288 MB. So you will need a big memory card if you want to take your music and videos with you, add another 1200 Rs to the price of the phone for a 8 GB card.

So who should buy this phone.

I would recommend this phone for Internet type people. It’s so easy to get to facebook and twitter on this phone. Its even integrated into your contacts and other places on the phone.

It comes with a good browser that can show flash. It has an ever growing market place with all kind of apps.

Gaming is not height priority on this device but you can find some casual games.

So who should not buy this phone

People who watch a lot of videos and take photos with their mobile. This phone has a 5 mega pixel camera but the photos are dull and blurry. Videos play well but not many formats are supported and it takes couple of seconds to skip etc. All these feature are really noticeable when you come from an iPhone.

So if photos are videos are not your main use of phone and if you use Internet and email a lot this is the phone for you.

Unlike the iPhone this can be customised in so many ways that matches your style and use. Also all the content is right on the screen

Last but not the least the phone features it has good phone features, and the bend at the edge of the phone feels very good when you are talking on the phone.

It also has 3G so you are future proof too.

Since i gotten the phone i have been barely able to keep the phone down.

Build a Better Bulb for a $10 Million Prize

Its kind of mind, boggling that no one has invented something better before this prize. When we can make new phone and mp3 players everyday. Why can’t some essential items, get that kind of innovation. Someone should set up a company that innovates on existing products that have not been changed for more than 20 years. They could make quite a lot of money.

The ubiquitous but highly inefficient 60-watt light bulb badly needs a makeover. And it could be worth millions in government prize money — and more in government contracts — to the first company that figures out how to do it.

HTC hero has impressed me so far

I bought HTC hero today. So far it has impressed me with its Android operating system and the HTC hardware itself.I used iPhone for the last two years, so I know what a good phone and os can do. It takes a special phone to impress after that kind of experience, so far HTC hero is doing that.More detailed review at a later date. The phone I bought was locked, or at least that’s what the person at the store said. It even shows Airtel logo when it boots up, but once I put my aircel sim it started working right away. No unlocking necessary.

This is why designers should design cars

This is why designers should design cars and not engineers. Check out the design of new Reva car which will go on sale in 2010.

The left side one is designed by Dilip Chhabria. And the right side one is by the company.

The Bangalore-based Reva Electric Car Co unveiled two new models, one of them designed by Indias celebrated auto designer Dilip Chhabria, at the 63rd Frankfurt International Motor Show on Thursday. The production of the second model – Reva NXR, which is a four-seat, two-door hatchback — will commence in early 2010.

Microsoft’s secret tablet computer

See the video for a really cool tablet that is being developed by Microsoft. I am imagining apple tablet will be something like this. Check out the video on the page.

Courier is a real device, and weve heard that its in the “late prototype” stage of development. Its not a tablet, its a booklet. The dual 7-inch or so screens are multitouch, and designed for writing, flicking and drawing with a stylus, in addition to fingers. Theyre connected by a hinge that holds a single iPhone-esque home button. Statuses, like wireless signal and battery life, are displayed along the rim of one of the screens. On the back cover is a camera, and it might charge through an inductive pad, like the Palm Touchstone charging dock for Pre.

All the news around the world is connected

Brand new way to link stories. This proves that everything around the world is linked somehow.

Like Kevin Bacon’s co-stars, topics in the news are all connected by degrees of separation. To examine how every story fits together, News Dots visualizes the most recent topics in the news as a giant social network. Subjects—represented by the circles below—are connected to one another if they appear together in at least two stories, and the size of the dot is proportional to the total number of times the subject is mentioned.

Eating at the wrong time make you fat

I have been telling this to my friends all along. Eating at regular times everyday can make you thin. My logic was that if you eat at the same time everyday. Your body doesn’t need to store the fat, because it knows it will be getting energy everyday at the same time. When you start eating irregular thats when the body starts saving fat.

Eat at the right time of day if you actually want to shed those extra pounds, an American study suggests.Researchers at Northwestern University have found that eating at irregular times influences weight gain. They say that eating in the middle of the night, when the body wants to sleep, is not right because the regulation of energy by the body’s circadian rhythms may play a significant role.

Eating at the ‘wrong’ time can lead to weight gain.

Nokia n900 looks really interesting

nokia_n900

Nokia recently has developed some very good thing to go with their mobile phones. Like Ovi service which allow you to store files, music and photos online. And their music and app stores etc.

So switching to their phones seems like a good idea now. But i am really hesitant of using symbian. But with their new Nokia n900 it will run linux and is built top to bottom for touch usage. Unlike other nokia phones which come with clunky ui for touch interface.

The user interface looks really cool and customizable.

Online videos of the phone look impressive.

It will be priced really high like the Nokia N97 31000 Rs. But if it offers what its promising it might be a better purchase than the Nokia n97.

Nokia has already started taking pre orders in other countries.

Will be interesting to see how it will be priced and received in India.

Go here to know more about Nokia n900.

Copy contacts from a nokia to samsung phone

copy contacts

I had to help a friend in converting his 700 contacts from a nokia phone to his samsung phone.

It can be done easily if you have a computer and some patience.

First download PC suites for both the mobile phones which can be found on the manufactures website and install them.

First connect the new phone to which you want to transfer the contacts to. See what formats does it allow the contact to be imported into.

Then connect your old phone and using the pc suite of that phone provider export the contacts.

Which usual will be in .csv format. Make a copy of that file and back it up some where safe.

copycontacts2

Then import them into the new phone PC suite. This is where you get in to trouble you will have to do the import few times until you get the contact exactly the way you want.Because both manufactures use different phone operating system and have different contact fields. It will take few trial and errors before you can get all the fields right. Once you get what you want sync it back to the new phone. If you have the latest phone with gprs you can also transfer contacts by syncing them to an online provider like, Yahoo or Oggsync etc.If you are doing a contact sync between two nokia phones you can also use a free service from nokia called Ovi.
