If you are using mobiles of these companies and are not using their PC suites. You are missing a lot.
Both these companies offer nice programs to sync your contacts, music, pictures and videos. They also allow you to convert the videos so they can be played on your mobile.
Nokia PC suite
I like the nokia PC suite because it detects the phone automatically and also display the picture of the phone. So you can be sure it has detected your particular phone. It pops the nokia PC suite in a small window with all the shortcuts.
Once you click a particular shortcut a window opens up with the app.
Like address book which will let you import contacts or back them up etc.
Similar all the multimedia have programs where you can import, edit and convert them.
So download the nokia pc suite if you have a nokia phone its around 25 Mb. You can find the nokia pc suite here.
Samsung kies software
It opens up a big window with all the apps loaded in smaller windows. It too detects your phone automatically but doesn’t show the exact image of the phone which can be a bit confusing.
Its a lot more customizable than the nokia pc suite. It too offer all the feature like importing photos, contacts and videos etc.
You can also copy files, photos, music and videos to the phone from the pc suite.
So download the samsung pc suite if you have a samsung phone its around 120 Mb. You can find the samsung kies software here.

Since its a basic phone its hard to find syncing software for it.
Are there any free pc suites (open source or non-open source) for Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit) that can be used for backing and restoring data from/to nokia and samsung mobiles.
I have nokia 6020, nokia 2865 cdma and samsung GT S5350 shark.
I have no problems with nokia pc suite, but samsung kies is very buggy and bulky and has poor interface. I am not able to connect to internet using kies. Syncing too is a problem.
I used a free pc suite in linux which worked with all the above phones, but lacked features.
Because both these phones are basic phones its hard to find apps to do back up.
There are quite a few online back up sites out there give them a try.

I lost my Nokia E5, and now want to transfer its backup record, store in Nokia suit OVI into Samgung Galaxy Fit.?
Because Samgung Galaxy Fit is an android device.
First create a gmail account
then export the contacts from nokia suite ovi in .csv file (find export settings under file menu)
Then upload them to google contacts which you can find in your gmail (click import contacts)
Then log in to your Samgung Galaxy Fit with your gmail account and all your contact will sync over the air. (You will need a gprs or wifi connection for this)
From now on you don’t have to worry about back up. All you contacts are backed up in gmail too…
can you help me with samsung pc studio for win7 as pc studio 5 is not compatible with win7 and other pc studios are not compatible with my handset samsung w299.

I just got my new Samsung S advance (I9070) android phone, where as earlier i had a nokia phone from which i have taken backup of all my pictures and musics

Since you have backed up all the files from Nokia phone.
Just copy them over to your Samsung S advance via usb, it will show up as a removable drive copy music and pictures on to it and android will detect the files when you disconnect.
For contacts and calendar. login to your gmail accounts and there you can find contacts. On the contacts page there is a more button from where you can import your Nokia contacts into gmail.
From there they will be synced over the air when you sign in with your gmail id on your Samsung S advance
