Bsnl has been offering high speed broadband internet for a few years now. I ordered my connection few weeks back.
Here is what you need to know before you get the connection.
There are 2 types of High speed connections one is 8 Mbps & 16 Mbps.
8 Mbps you get 60 GB limit – 2799 Rs
16 Mbps you get 125 GB – 4999 Rs
You can find the charges and other details from BSNL broadband site here
With this connection you have to keep one thing in mind. You have to be within 1 Km range of your nearest BSNL exchange office to get this connection.
You need a land line connection before they can provide you this service.
You will also have to buy a new type of model called VDSL modem (Its not available for sale, so buy or rent the modem from BSNL)
It costs around 3000 Rs, its better to go for a rental one from BSNL. You will only have to pay 100 Rs per month for rental modem. That way you can get free replacement if your modem has any issues.
The procedure of using the connection is similar to getting the bsnl broadband connection. The technician from BSNL will do all the necessary stuff.
So how fast is the high speed BSNL connection.
It depends on what you are using. If you are browsing regular websites its almost instantaneous. You can watch youtube vidoes without waiting for them to load.
Don’t expect to download 1 GB per hour it more like 400 – 600 MB per hour.
The fastest speed i got on my 16 Mbps is around 9 Mbps. It took me 3 hours to download the recent 4 GB lion update.
Most of the services limit their speed so don’t expect same speed everywhere. But compare to anything thats available out there. This is the fastest and the cheapest way to connect to the internet.
Since the modem is a wifi router also, you can connect all your other devices to it. If 2-3 people use internet in the same house its becomes quite economical too.
If you don’t use that much of internet and videos you can get the 8 Mbps connection. i recommend you go for 16 Mbps if are a heavy user like me. You will get 125 GB bandwidth limit which is quite good, nearly 4.5 Gb per day.
You can use BSNL self care site to keep track of your bandwidth usage. Once you create an account it takes a day to get updated from then on you can check the site to see your bandwidth usage. Check the unbilled usage details know your current bandwidth.
Visit this link to see my BSNL speed test results
Tip : By changing the dns on your router to Google dns you can increase the speed.

Well. Does it comes with WiFi. or u purchased a wifi router. Because i dont think my mac will identify a USB Modem.
Its a wired internet connection. It comes with telephone line, they give you a special modem called VDSL modem. Which has a wifi router built in. You don’t need to connect it to your mac, but you need a mac with Ethernet port to configure the modem the first time.
This connection is available if you are with in 1 km range of your bsnl exchange.
Your post is absolutely useful!
I’m just moving to Delhi and looking for the fastest internet connection. However I’m afraid my new house is not within 1km from the exchange office, and BSNL offers only 4Mbps, Airtel 2Mbps.Since I’ve been enjoying 100Mbps+ in my hometown in Tokyo, I want to seek getting the fastest internet connection available at any cost. Would you give me an advice to take another option than the above?
Anyway I’ll stay tuned. Your posts are quite helpful for new comers to India like me.
Aren’t we all in search of faster internet connections
, glad to help you…
The fastest broadband i could find that is a bit reasonably priced is the bsnl high speed internet, they even have a big bandwidth limit of 125 GB
So until someone brings higher speeds, bsnl is the best bet.
Contact your bsnl office and talk with technical guy there, they will give you high speed even if you out of the 1 km range.
Speeds will be a bit slower, in fact they told me that, i will be only getting around 8 Mbps. but i am getting up to 13 Mbps some times.
If you find any new higher speed connections with good bandwidth limit. please leave a comment and inform me.
As i said before we all are in search of higher speed internet connections.
Thank you very much for your advise, Prasanth. I will have a contact with bsnl again for the higher speed while asking relieance of the same thing for the info-gathering purpose, and leave the feedback here.
FYI, at this moment I’m using an usb of reliance netconnect which provides just 50 or 60kbps.
I always hope the IT infrastructure in India would be getting better which would bring a bright future to the people.
taka i am not sure whether you will be satisfied with 50 mbps or not. but airtel offers 50 mbps speed in India. especially in delhi but the cost will be around 9000 per month.
check this to get more info bcoz i dont use airtel
http://www.quickonlinetips.com/archives/2010/03/airtel-50mbps-vdsl2-fastest-broadband-in-india/
Nice for those who can get it.
The best thing about having high speeds is that you stop worrying about speeds and start using it.
You need a high speed connection now a days if you really want to do anything important online.
Even software updates are crossing 1 Gb which would take hours on a dial up. With my 16 Mbps it takes less than 10 minutes.
If you have more than 1 computer, or tablets which get app updates every few weeks.
dear neel, thanks for the infomation. 50Mbps will surely satisfy me because some reports says human being can rarely see the diffirence in speed over 20-30Mbps. I will contact with Airtel shortly although the threshold data (200GB) are quite limited for broadband usage.
I have a 16 Mbps bsnl connection with 125 GB limit. Been using it for six month so far never crossed 100 GB per month. So 200 GB is a good limit, even though i have a 16 mbps connection it always around 5-10 Mbps range. So this 50 Mbps will be only 20 Mbps or so in real world.
Prasanth, finally BSNL and Reliance withdrew because no broadbands (even 2Mbps) are available around my house. I’ve installed Airtel 2Mbps eventually and sometimes experience 1.5 Mbps actually when I use only 1 PC connected by wire. I’ll try wifi to get more than 2 devices connected and report the respective speeds to you soon. While asking Airtel to set up an exchange office nearer to my house, I decided to explore a possibility of using datacard to get higher speed. I would like to keep my situation updated here. Thanks.
Hopefully reliance will launch 4G and all of us will get higher speed connections & some competition in the broadband segment.
Keep me posted…
when will reliance launch 4g
There is no official date but there are rumors that it will launch this summer.
also there is talk that they will have plans where you pay 10 Rs per GB so for 1000 Rs you will get 100 GB.
now you have to pay more than 10000 Rs for so much bandwidth
If this is true it could be huge.
And what will be the bandwidth of reliance 4g
It should give 6x speed over 3G.
you could get 16 Mbps at the least. It could go up to 50 Mbps depending on the distance from the tower.
It will depend on which version of 4G reliance plans to implement. Pricing will be the most important factor.
Man!! you are talking about 4G but my town didn’t have 3G as well. Even sometimes 2G doesn’t work. I have at present 10-15 kbps speed but that satisfies me. B’coz I use internet only for checking e-mails
I too suffered with those speeds for years. Internet has only become stable and good for the last two years.
Before that I used to use bsnl dial up which was always disconnecting and very slow.
Wait a few years and you too will have 2G, 3G and 4G.
Try using opera browser with turbo turned on which will cache most the site and load quickly.
what is the operational range of a vdsl modem
The vdsl modem works well if you are within 1 kilometre of bsnl exchange.
If you go and talk with bsnl exchange they will inform you if the connection will work in your address or not.
It will work if its a bit more that 1 km. You just will little slower speed.
HI I PLAN TO BUY A SAMSUNG SMART OR PANASONIC SMART TV AND WANT TO USE INTERNET IN THE TV ITSELF. WHAT TYPE OF INTERNET CONNECTION I SHOULD GO FOR AND HOW I WILL BE CHARGED.
There are two ways you can hook up smart tv’s to internet.
If the tv has wifi you can buy the tataphoton wifi hub it cost 5999 Rs with 1500 Rs per month for internet.
Or
You can buy a wifi router and get a broadband landline. Which comes up to same price.
By getting a broadband landline you can also hook up the tv via ethernet. This is the only option if you don’t have wifi on your tv.
It will cost around 1500-5000 Rs per month to hook up tv to internet. Also look into getting a high bandwidth connection as you will be using it for videos on tv.
Bsnl has high speed broadband which cost 5500-6500 Rs per month with 125-250 GB per month. This connection is good for video.
Well bsnl also introduced ftth services for heavy users. And for those who wants 100mbps (like taka). but these are very costly
They should make the 16 Mbps available at 1500 Rs per month. Its very costly at 4999 Rs.
no 16 mbps is for 6999 that too with a data cap of 100gb and users seeking 100mbps will have to pay a hefty 80,000 per month.. bsnl must name it as ftto (fiber to the office) as none can afford a broadband paying worth 80000 a month.. however in uk u ll get 100mbps internet at a very cheap rate just 40 pounds per month.. or maybe lesser
Here is the link to bsnl 16 mbps highspeed
http://www.bsnl.in/service/new_BB/BB_highspeed_lim.htm
This is my broadband connections you have to pay 5500 Rs for 125 GB, speeds are really good. After that every 10 Gb costs 1000 Rs. But i rarely cross the limit.
You might say 5500 is very costly but 40 pounds comes up to 3000 Rs. The infrastructure in india is not good, so we have to pay a bit to build it up, then it will get cheaper.
When you use like i do you can make it more than worthwhile. I use it for more than 10 hours plus.
Is there any high speed plan (minimum 8 Mbps) to those who live 3-4 km from the telephone exchange?
Look at this link on BSNL site http://www.bsnl.in/service/new_BB/BB_COMBO_lim.htm
It has a 8 Mbps plan which is not limited by distance and you get 60 GB per month for 3000 Rs.
If you have the money get the 16 mbps high speed plan tell them you don’t mind getting less 16 mbps.
They will give the connection even if you are outside the 3-4 kms range. it will be slower but much better than 3-4 mbps offered by 3G
What speed do you think I can expect if I stay 3-4 km away from the telephone exchange on a 16 Mbps connection?
Even the bsnl engineers can’t tell because it depends on so many factors.
Like how good the connection is, how far it is from the exchange and how busy is the bsnl exchange in your area etc.
But it will be faster than 3G.
You can even ask them to come and test it at your house. If they can’t take it for one month and if it doesn’t work out
go to the 8 mbps or 1 mbps speeds. You can change the plan.
Rent the DSL modem don’t buy it that way if you want to change you can give it back to bsnl. Also make sure you get the dsl
modem from bsnl because its not available elsewhere.
PS – DSL modem is different from regular broadband modem.
Well reading this post i took the 8mbps one and now i am thinking to cancel this broadband.. I will get Beam fibre insted. Will pay 1000 INR for 10mbps.. that too with unlimited usage… BSNL Should think of pricing b4 they introduce any high speed broadband
Beam fiber is not unlimited
i found this on their website see for yourself http://www.beamtele.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=149&Itemid=104
- Fair Usage Policy applies for Unlimited Data Plans
- * Free usage limit applicable for downloads only, uploads are unlimited
They are not even telling what the limit is. So it could be very low after which speeds will be reduced.
Bsnl at least inform you http://www.bsnl.in/service/new_BB/BB_home_only_unlim.htm
Do let me know how it works out for you so that we can inform other users.
well the limit is 30 GB. Its enough for me because while on bsnl i ve never crossed 25GB.. and regarding speed i never got less than 1mbps transfer rate(till now)
http://www.beamtele.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=59&Itemid=13
above is the link for fair usage policy
Here are some speedtests c these
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1330104591.png
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1330106666.png
and also have a look at the ping.. when i was in bsnl ping was nearly 100ms and speeds i used to get 400kbps or (3mbps approx)
As long as you know what your are getting into its fine.
I just wanted to tell you that its not unlimited. With youtube and other videos sites going HD a simple 10 min videos will take up to 500 mb.
As long as you are confident you will not cross 30 GB its fine.
About BSNL check out my 16 Mbps speed test they do deliver. Look for results after 6/6/2011
http://www.speedtest.net/results.php?sh=a99d9f29395334ebff0df98412bb349c&ria=0
When i took 125 GB bandwith i never expected to cross it. But with ps3 downloads and youtube videos i have crossed it once and i use up to 100 Gb every month. Even when you cross the 125 Gb limit BSNL only charges 1000 Rs per 10 GB.
Do report back after few months and tell us how your internet service is going…
Where can I buy VDSL modem?
Bsnl office in my native say they can provide the service but do’t have the modem and not sure when they’ll get it.
I tried bsnl office near my house in bangalore, they do’t have it and were’t much help either.
Any one know where I can get VDSL modem in bangalore or any bsnl office from where I can get it?
When i was getting the high speed bsnl connection, i too searched in vain.
VDSL modems are not available in the market to buy.
I did quite a bit of search outside, but no luck bsnl office got one finally.
Talk to the bsnl office and talk to the in charge ask if they are available at other branches.
You can offer to pick it up yourself, which will help you get it faster.
Good luck…
Karthik,
I imported a very good router from Israel http://draytek.com/products/xdsl/singlewan/item/2439-vigor2750n.html
Paid around 300$ for it. I am a individual consultant wanted to buy draytek modem in India for quite sometime now as my customer uses the same and I don’t regret buying it.
But BSNL is unable to find a VDSL card and so delaying the connection for more than a month now and looks like they gave up on getting the VDSL card. I spoke with DE also but no use.
If you are interested in buying the same from me, please let me know.
Thanks,

Nice article. Thanks for giving information. I invite to visit a new web site http://yellowpages.infoonlinepages.com/
After reading your post I am starting to think I should maybe move from Tikona to BSNL. I had a very bad experience with Tikona recently.
I heard many complaints about Tikona, i heard two other friends complaint about their lack of customer service.
Good thing with bsnl apart from price is when it works they don’t mess with it.
On bsnl too if you get into technical issues you are on your own.
Hi Prasanth,
Please have some patience with an absolute computer nitwit…
Recently got my very first Apple: i-Mac 21,5 “, OS X v. 10.7.4 (2.5 GHz Intel Core iS, memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR 3). Yet awaiting Time Capsule (still on its way from Singapore…).
Live in rural Maharashtra (within 1 km from nearest BSNL connexion), have a BSNL landline/ADSL Internet connection with old BNSL modem/router via PPPoE, configured by Apple technician.
Mac System Update failed 3x to complete. Helpful BSNL guy brought his own modem/router, let me have it for a few days’ try-out. Hurray! Finally succeeded to download System Update (729 Mb in appr. 3 hours).
But… BSNL cannot supply any new modem/router even in the near future… OK, buy one myself… Searched the net and stumbled upon LinkSys X 3000. What do you think about that? BTW: am not a heavy user (no games/no videos), but must send/receive rather heavy files from time to time.
Hope that you find the time to help me out here and that I supplied enough info for that. Many thanks in advance!!!!
Hanny
What not look into BSNL High speed VDSL connection. But its costly but if price is not an issues get this connection.
As you are in 1 km range of your bsnl office this connection should work best.
Get a VDSL modem from bsnl they are not available outside, its different from adsl modem.
It is fast, you can download 1Gb file with in 1 hour
Don’t know much about adsl modems. Check out flipkart they have quite a few options at different price range read the reviews there
Prasanth, whap upload speed do you get with 16Mbps plan?
It depends on so many factors like time of the day, from where you are downloading etc.
Also how far you are from the bsnl office and how many connections do they have at their office etc.
Here are my speedtest results for BSNL 16mbps HIGH SPEED connection.
At my local bsnl office there are only few of these connection may be that is why i am getting this speeds.
Thanks for the info. Results doesn’t look very consistent. We have a mini exchange in our apartment complex which is connected to the main exchange using fiber optics. Hoping that I will be getting the VDSL connection soon, but they don’t have availability of VDSL modems. Fingers crossed.
If you want these speed at this price i think this is the only option out there.
Hopefully the price will come down and will make it more affordable to many.
Try and rent the modem from bsnl that way if something goes wrong they will replace it.
Is this VDSL broadband connection is available in rural areas of UP East.
Check with local bsnl office, go in person and talk with the people at the office that is the only way to find that info.
hello prasanth,
after reading this article i got vdsl connection of my friend’s cyber cafe, as i must say the speeds are really awesome and good upload speeds
but the problem appears due to disconnections once or twice an hour and i enabled system log and got this through modem log
daemon critical pppd[902]: clear IP addresses. connection down
daemon critical pppd[902]: clear IP addresses. PPP connection down
daemon critical pppd[902]: PPP server detected
daemon critical pppd[902]: PPP LCP UP
this process takes up 1.2 minutes and this happens once or twice an hour
and P.S we recently changed our plan frm ADSL to VDSL and plan BBG combo very high speed upload plans 3199
http://www.bsnl.co.in:9080/opencms/bsnl/BSNL/services/broadband/vdsl.html
Thats too often it should a problem with the line.
Ask the bsnl office to check it out.
My connection never drops, even when it drops its come back when i restart the router etc.
No settings changes are necessary if the connection is good. So ask the bsnl tech to check the line quality.
bsnl has just started fiber to home in srinagar i am taking fibro 16 which is 16mbps with a limit of 100 GB at a cost of 6999 but they are not saying anything about upload speeds . what should i expect, how much upload speed do you get.
should i take fiber or vdsl 16mbps
thanks
Omar
It depends on the distance and the capacity at your bsnl office. The upload speeds I get are always twice that of download speeds. If I get 3 mbps download speeds I get 6 mbps upload speed.
If you want maximum download or upload speed use default bsnl DNS. If you want good browsing speeds use Google DNS.
thanks a lot for your prompt response, bsnl office is luckily just 300 metets from my house. they are using some `GIPON” service on fiber optic, they are not yet giving IPTV and other facilities but only broadband. can i use two set of DNS for differnt machines. usually i upload a lot and that is why i need a better upload speed.
You can’t set different DNS for each machine.
You will be setting the DNS on the router so putting different dns on each machine will matter.
Once you get the connection, test which dns work best for you.
By default its on BSNL, you can change it to google dns.
I live in Koramangala Bangalore and have been using Hathway 5MBPS unlimited without issues. The limit is 20GB plus Sunday free downloads. I am sad that airtel which offers 8mbps in other areas dont operate here. I am a heavy net user and have a dedicated machine which is On 24 7 and have been exploring a high speed unlimited plan. The only ISP who can give me speeds higher than 5MBPS is BSNL and the guy is coming on saturday to explain me about the plans. He says the feasibility report is OK. Not sure if it means i am close to the exchange. Hopefully i can get the 16MBPS plan. Thanks Prasanth. Will update soon. If BSNL doesnt work out…then sadly i have to wait
16mbps Bsnl FTTH works great, amazing download and upload speeds but it is a data guzzler Prashant, Is their a way to keep track of data usage on Bsnl FTTH 16mbps . i have a limit of 100Gb on that.
To check the bsnl broadband bandwidth details go to http://selfcare.sdc.bsnl.co.in/
You have to register first and then you can go there and see the details…
One you register and login there is home menu next to it, you can find service menu.
Click on the service menu and from there choose “Check My Broadband Unbilled Usage Details”
Then enter the dates from which you want to see the bandwidth details for.
The bandwidth is reported in KB convert that into GB and you get your details. Also make sure to see the last date of the bandwidth report so that you know its up to date. Sometimes the report is a day old.
Sometimes this report will under maintenance.
Second Method
Then you can just dial 1500 from your broadband phone line. Once you give your phone details choose billing details. And from there check the unbilled usage. It tells you the amount that is unbilled if its says 5500 Rs that 55 GB. It costs 1000 Rs for 10 GB.
So these are the two ways you can check your bandwidth.
Can any one tell me where to buy VDSL modem as BSNL has stopped providing modem
I have imported one for myself but didn’t get VDSL connection yet and am ready to sell mine. See my previous post on this on September 7, 2012 at 6:28 pm
what is the process of connection through wi-fi router many points connect
i have bsnl broadband connection, 500/- monthly home plan
but i want change the plan
business plan about 2 Mbps speed
i live in maharashtra rural area in nagpur
please info. me process & cost of the devise (near about 20 points)
when you apply for a connection bsnl asks you, what type of modem you want.
If you take the type 2 modem it has wifi built in. With that you can use internet on you mobile and tablets if you are in wifi range.
You can either get a wifi router or return you current broadband modem and get a type 2 modem, which is a wifi modem.
Then you can use internet or other device like phones, tablets etc when you are in wifi range.
Get the unlimited plans because all you devices will be using this connection, so you will be using more bandwidth. Also don’t forget to password protect your wifi once you get it.
sir, I am very happy to have a valuable suggestion from you. Nowadays I need high speed internet to take Passport Appointments. Common connection becomes slow at the time of appointment shedule time. Please suggest me which is the better option and connection. Thank you very much
Bsnl connection is fast but pricy.
Going wired option is always better than wireless connection.
So get any good wired broadband connection, if none are available try tataphoton 3G data card they are quite fast.
But make sure 3G service is available in your area.
Few questions Prasanth.
1. How many times you face downtime?
2. how is average torrent download speed?
3. do you use fiber cable for the connection?
please post some recent speedtest.
So far touch wood no major down times that i noticed. may be few hours in the last 1 year.
I haven’t downloaded any torrents
But software like ipad update and software updates etc are really quick.
I downloaded 4 GB mac os update in 3 hours.
it takes about 1 1/2 hour to download 1 GB depending on the speed of the server you are downloading from…
Taking your download speed into account, I must say it is very very very slow. Really a 16 Mbps connection?? Because a 4 Mbps connection downloads at better speed than bsnl 16 mbps.
I tested myself. reliance broadband 4 mbps – 1 hr – 1.5gb – through IDM.
It totally depends on where you get the download from. Downloading ps3 game demos take few hours for 2-3 GB
I only had to download from apple servers and it was fast. i usually download small stuff like podcasts apps which are below 100 MB they take less than 1 minute.
You can watch youtube HD videos without buffering etc.
But the reason i took this high speed connection was, no one is offering that much data at these speeds.
for 125 GB at 16 Mbps you pay 5500 Rs including taxes.
3G services offer speedy connections but they don’t offer high data limit. You get about 30 GB per month which is not enough.
I use about 4 GB per day mostly watching youtube and downloading podcasts
My daily usage is same as yours.
nice plan you have…In which city you live?
i am from Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh.
No Beam Fiber there?
Bsnl is my only option for broadband. Even if other were present i would choose bsnl because of this plan.
No fiber and don’t expect it anytime soon
hi
my plan is speed combo 2799 – 60gb data usage/ month upto 8 Mbps
but first week of every month my download speed is less than 50KBps only
even though my exchange is located within 500meters
no correct response from BSNL exchange
Try using google dns and see if that helps.
It also can depend on which service you are using does it support higher uploads.
few website shows good speed around 700kpbs but some site download speed is below 25kpbs
what may be the reason
Thats how it is, most big site support higher speed, smaller sites don’t.
Many sites you have to pay to get higher uploads or downloads. So only having higher speed connection is not enough.
I am using 2/2 for BSNL FTTH but it’s costly and 2Mbps isn’t sufficient for my needs as I have my tablet and my xbox 360 to run with. When I asked my bsnl exchange about the VDSL plans they said that they don’t have VDSL switch in my area so it ain’t possible but I know FTTH is capable of giving higher speeds than VDSL and hope someday 100Mbps would be affordable to me…
Sad that we are so behind in internet data speeds compared to the rest of the world.
People are talking about 1 Gbps speeds in rest of the world, where were are dreaming of 100 Mbps speeds.
So Reliance 4G is our only hope for higher speeds at good prices. Hopefully they will launch soon with higher speeds.
Well 4G services would be good for the people on the move but the maximum speed possible in 4G is upto 40Mbps which is far less than FTTH.Since 4G deployment is far far less costlier than FTTH therefore the private players are pushing for that.
I have the option for opting of Airtel 4G in my area but decided do go against it because wireless service is never reliable and stable. The speed varies greatly from one moment to another…
As you said 4G is the only option as its hard to deploy FTTH in India.
If companies get competitive with 4G we could have a good priced plans.
But the testing period prices for 4G are disappointing.
If they offered 4G speeds with 125 GB data at 5000 Rs per month i would switch.
You must know that raw speed is not everything in online gaming and so ping times are very important.I recently had problems playing Fifa 13 for iPhone online and EA support told me that since my ping times are high I am getting frequent disconnections from their servers.I get ping of about 270-290ms on easo.ea.com which is their server address.
Knowing that FTTH provides better latency than VDSL would you mind posting your traceroute and ping to the server easo.ea.com,I would like to compare mine with you…
Moreover, are you confident that 4G would be able to provide better latencies than FTTH or any other wired connections which is a must for online gaming?
I occasionally play call of duty black ops on ps3 and it works fine with my connection.
i did the ping to easo.ea.com and got 300-400 ms, this is with google dns.
The latency issues are more to do with lack of local servers. I don’t think it will improve in near future because none of the big gaming companies think India is important market. So they have no local servers here.
I got the above mentioned ping when speedtest showed my ping was 45 ms and speeds were about 9.10 Mbps up and 8.28 Mbps down.
ping google.com – 80 ms
ping youtube.com – 60 ms
Both these services have servers in India.
Using Google DNS doesn’t improve latency in a network….moreover I cannot use Google DNS for my iPhone or iPad because the BSNL DNS servers are hard coded into the ONT(Optinal Network Termination) they have provided,so even if my Pc can use google DNS but my xbox or phone cannot
The solution to this is to hook the FTTH to a wifi router and use the wifi router to connect your xbox or iPad. You can change the dns on the wifi router that way both the xbox and the ipad get to use google dns.
This is a nice idea to try if you have spare wifi router, but don’t go out and buy one as the difference is only negligible.
Hopefully with next gen console xbox one, ps4 launching soon, and itunes india store opening in India. We should get local server from these providers which should improve the online experience.
Until then we have to find our own solutions and work arounds…
