Real Madrid its sad to see you like this
I am a big fan of Real Madrid football team. I didn’t start my affection for them when the galaticos came. I liked them before that, when Claude Makélélé was running the mid field for them. And Raul was the king of Spain. Every touch he took was a goal, and Roberto Carlos was taking those stunning free kicks. Then Luis Figo came and later Zidane, it was almost perfect team then. And who can forget watching and enjoying them just passing the ball around. It was magical, thats how i became their fan.
Now its seems that every player that is big come and plays and leaves the club as its some kind of bus stop. No one is staying there and there is no team building. They bring new players and hope it works and it never does.
Its sad to see them suffer like this, will they ever get back to those days. Where there were no super stars just team players. And they became famous because of their team play, now everyone plays for their own career there is no team play.
If some one at Real Madrid is listening please let these superstars go and bring in team players.
Here is my opinion of the current crop of players.
Iker Casillas – Still best goal keeper in the world for me. I don’t think anyone makes as many saves as him in a match. Buffon has a strong defense infront of him, Casillas doesn’t. Please never leave.
Míchel Salgado – Scraps for the ball and is the teams muscles should stay.
Pepe – Very good defender should stay.
Sergio Ramos – Younger Robert Carlos hits crosses like he did when he played for Real should stay.
Fabio Cannavaro – Not that impressed, wouldn’t mind if he leaves.
Marcelo – Scraps for the ball and put in lot of effort should stay.
Gabriel Heinze – Not as good as Ramos could get more attacking player, please leave.
Fernando Gago – We need some one like Makélélé or Zindane in the mid feid he is not either of them, please leave.
Wesley Sneijder – Please leave, has not impressed me.
Arjen Robben – Too many touches and too selfish to play for a team like real madrid.
Guti – Over rated please leave.
Diarra – Could improve please stay.
Raúl González – He is still the king for me. Make him the sole forward and give him all the passes and confidence. He struggles now mostly because he tries to pass to other players who are not in the same wave length. Never leave can’t see you play for any other club
Gonzalo Higuaín – Its like a crap shoot with him one game he is all firing and the next he can’t been seen any where near the ball. Wouldn’t mind seeing him leave.
I am writing this after seeing them struggle against liverpool and go down 5-0. Its sad to see a team which reached such heights as 9 champions leagues struggle like this.
Mind you unlike others i have to stake awake upto 3:00 am in the morning to see them play. I don’t mind seeing them lose as long as they play well. Before the galaticos came, fast attacking football with crosses and darting runs and some style. Please bring that back, hope they improve soon.

Australia are not no 1 anymore

After losing today’s fifth match against South Africa in the one day. South Africa have become the no 1 one day team in the rankings.
Australia are really struggling without their experienced players. In the last year or so most of their experienced players have retired like Glenn McGrath, Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist. All their retirements were really badly timed. And their current experienced player are really out of form. Clarke, Hussey, Symonds are really struggling at the moment.
All this makes for an interesting cricketing scene. If any team wants to beat the Aussies this could be the best time.
Its sad to see my favourite team go through this, but i know they have some very good upcoming talent. So hope they will build the team soon and not take as long as west indies are taking.

Ferrari’s new F60 has a weird wing still looks cool

Ferrari recently launched their 2009 formula 1 racing car. The biggest visible change is the new smaller rear wing. Compared to previous yeas car it looks really weird. But hope it make up for that with speed.
Would like to see how fast this is compared to last years car. Also would be interesting to see how the competition responds.
Will make for an interesting 2009 season of formula one racing.

Flash game with some really cool graphics

I have not played many flash games recently.
But gave this game a try and it has some wonderful graphics, i didn’t think flash was capable of doing such graphics.
The game is a clone of diner dash type of game play.
Sathyam Cinema the entertainment paradise
Sathyam cinema was the best place to watch movies in Chennai. Now they have gone ahead and made it even more better by adding a gaming section. The 4,5,6 floors at Sathyam cinema now offer gaming arcade called Blur. They have a pc gaming section a console gaming section and an arcade gaming section. They even have a two lane bowling alley and restaurant and a snack bar too.
You have to register by paying 100 Rs and you get a blur card with 80 Rs which you can use. Here are the charges.
Pc gaming 1 hour 60 Rs
Consoles 1 hour 60 Rs
Arcade depends upon each game
Bowling 100 Rs per game
Weekends the prices go up a little higher.
On pc you can play all the latest games like crysis, call of duty etc.
On wii they offer Mario cart wii sports and other games
On Xbox 360 and Ps 3 they offer all the latest games like fifa 09, gears of wars etc.
They have some cool arcade games that I have not seen anywhere else. They have about 30 or so arcade gaming systems.
If you have not seen or played wii this could be the best way to give it a try. You can play with your buddy in a two player game.
If you don’t want to play for 1 hour you can stop when ever you want and continue that later when you have time. You can carry on balance for up to one month.
They even have special deals like 300 Rs for unlimited gaming for one day that’s for consoles only not arcade.
The snack bars too offer some very cool stuff to eat which you can order as you are playing and they will bring them to you.
And the friendly staff are more than willing to help you.
All in all a very good place to spend some time with friends. And best way to try out all the gaming consoles.
There is no way you can offered all three of them so this could be the way you try the other systems.
Try and avoid weekends if you don’t like crowds. They don’t allow taking pictures which is a shame because it could bring such publicity. Even though they have hoardings at the theatre. Lack of advertising of their gaming arcade is surprising.
I only came to know about it because I visit their website to book tickets. Its also quite surprising how many people still buy tickets at the counter. That too is not promoted well enough.

Anil Ambani looking into buying Newcastle
They just refused a rumor that Anil Ambani group is looking into buying Newcastle. Here is something interesting they also say.
‘We have not expressed interest in Newcastle. There is nothing in the latest stories. It’s a non-starter. As of now there is no interest, although I cannot speculate on what may be the future plans of my management.’
It would be cool if he could buy a English premier league club. At least we can cheer a team with something in it for us. Russians and Saudis own English premier league clubs so why not an Indian.
Hope this goes through and we all could cheer for Newcastle.
I don’t think he should invest in India football, instead if he buys this club, he should try and get Baichung Bhutia a chance to play for Newcastle. That way many youngsters will get inspired and get into football in India.
Then they can invest in Indian Football.

Michael Phelps wins 8 gold medals in Olympics

Michael Phelps wins his 8th gold medal bettering the previous record of 7. The last race was 4×100 meters individual medley. With a team of world record breakers Michael Phelps wins his 8th.
He was the third swimmer and his team was in the second place to Japan when he took over. He swam an unbelievable race and put his team in front and hand it over to the last swimmer who finished the race in style under world record.
The competition was so stiff that even the silver medalist Australia were under the world record.
So Michael Phelps totally deserves his 8th gold medal.
What an athlete, we will not see someone like this again soon. So cherish it.
Just read this article about what Michael Phelps eats everyday.
He suggested Phelps, with an estimated 8% body fat, probably burns 1,000 calories per hour during his swimming training, compared to the equivalent exercise for an average person – vigorous walking – that would burn between 170 and 240 calories.
1 gold medal for 1 billion
Finally an Indian wins a gold medal in an individual event at Olympics. Abhinav Bindra who has promised good results for quite some time gets India its first Olympic individual gold.
It’s a good day and also a sad day because it also reminds us of our pathetic sports record. How can 1 billion people not have won an individual gold medal in any event at the Olympics so far.
Watch whole country go crazy on this just to put this perspective. An athlete from USA called Michael Phelps is targeting 8 gold medals at this Olympics.
I guess some one had to bring the first one and I congrats Abhinav for it hopefully many more to follow.
Come on Raj Varthan Singh Rathore another gold please.
DD Sports don’t ruin the Olympics for me
I knew DD sports coverage of this Olympics would be crappy. But they have taken that to the next level with this Olympics. Here is how they are making it crappy this time.
There is no schedule, they cut from one sport to the other without any timing. Just when you are getting interested in what they are showing they change it to something new.
They also cut sporting events to show interviews with Indian Olympic officials. While a football match between Argentina and Australia was going on, they cut to show an interview with the Indian Olympics official. Do you really need to listen him. What is going to tell? How bad the Indian team is performing.
There are no highlight show, no one has time to sit all day through their crappy coverage so why not show highlights of the days events every three hours or so.
And last but not the least their hosts, serious with so much happening do we even need hosts. May be one guy just to tell us what’s about to come. But no they have two host who don’t know which camera to look at repeating exactly what the commentator just said. That to for more than five minutes at a time. That would have been fine if they did that occasionally. They do this three to four times every hour.
And finally for some of the sports they have Indian commentators who you would have known for their lack of professionalism. They just keep repeating what is happening on the screen as if I wasn’t watching. And not adding anything more to the experience.
Why can’t Indians get a professionally run national channel. How long will we have to endure this, why are the other sports channels sitting and watching.
2008 Olympics begin today in Beijing, China
The opening ceremony will begin today at 5:30 PM Indian time. It will be broadcast live from National Stadium in Beijing.
I just bought a Samsung 40 inch flat screen TV to watch the Olympic games. Sadly there are no HDTV providers in India at the moment so I will have to do with tata sky.
The program will be aired on DD sports and DD national. Its sad none of the top sports channels like espn and star sports get to cover the Olympics in India and we will have to endure doordarshan’s crappy coverage.
Hopefully this years games will be exciting and India will be able to get more than one Gold medal.
It will also be interesting to see how many games will be interrupted by protesters from Tibet and Human Rights groups.
Sites you should check out for Olympics coverage.
Official site of 2008 Beijing Olympics
Wired has links to sites that provide video of Olympics online
