Love Aaj Kal movie review

loveaajkalA interesting take on Love of this generation. Movie is very well made with a casual look and feel. Saif feels at home in the role as a boy friend for Deepika. I was not a big fan of Deepika before this movie. But after watching this movie i am liking her as a actress. Rishi kapoor also plays an improtant role in this movie. He seems to be there in every movie i am wathcing now.Story of the movie is about two couple who fall in love. But their careers come in the way and they happily break off their relationship. They realize how into each other they were after their break up and come together in the end. In between Rishi kapoors side story offers the inspiration for the two to get back, and to see true Love. This is the second best of Saif i have seen the first one was Dil Chahta Hai.I would have liked a bit more of the old stuff, but a good movie none the less. All the songs are also wonderful.

Samsung Hdtv power board problem

Samsung HDTV

A year back we bought a Samsung 40 inch HDTV.

Recently it had a problem where it would not turn on. The power light would come on the TV but the screen would not turn on. Luckily it was a week left in the one year warranty.

I did some googling about the issue and found that these Samsung HDTV had a power board problem.

We had to take to the service center and they had to keep the Tv for three days. After which they fixed it.

I am writing this post to let you know these things.

1. HDTV’s cannot be fixed by local Tv repair guys. There is not much to fix in them you just have to replace the boards inside the Tv which can only be done at a service center and that too takes time because they have to specially order boards for your particular Tv.

2. Don’t throw the box that these Tv’s come with, its quite handy to take them with the box.

3. Don’t expect your Tv to get fixed immeditely it will take time.

I am glad my Tv got its problem during the warranty period otherwise i would have had to pay big money.

Tata Sky seems to be winning the DTH race

dthrace

It might seem like too early to call this but so far Tata Sky is offering what no one else is offering and their customer service and recharging facilities etc are really fabulous.

I started my DTH experience with Dish Tv, but recently moved to tata sky for their Tata SKy+ service. Which lets you record live tv and nearly for 30 hours or so! And that too two shows at once, more about it in my review later.

Dish TV narrows Q1 loss to Rs 692 million – that’s a pretty big loss when you see that its cut throat competition in DTH now.

Tata Sky crosses 4 million subscribers – In the same time Tata Sky has taken in 4 million user with their super service and easy recharge options. Users will not leave them unless they do something really bad.

Airtel Digital TV mops up one million subscribers – Airtel is offering so many freebies it’s no wonder people are jumping on them too. They are even offering free mobile talk time for DTH customers.

Its good to see this much healthy competition in the DTH market. Then next big winner will be who ever brings HDTV DTH boxes to India first. There are lot of HDTV’s with no HDTV content. People who are paying in excess of 50000 Rs for their HDTV’s will be more than happy to spend 10000 Rs on an HDTV box. So please bring it already.

Is Stig the German F1 driving legend

In the recent episode of Top Gear they revealed that stig was the German F1 driving legend Michael Schumacher. But at the end of the episode they even made remarks saying that it may not be him.It would be very cool if it really was Michael Schumacher. Here is a wonderful clip from top gear of an American driving talent called Ken Block.

I wish i could drive like that.

Ndtv and Cnbc you guys suck

News is not what i am talking about, that’s another blog post altogether. What i am talking about is your Tech shows like Gadget Guru, Cell Guru and Tech Toys etc.I really want to find out about the price of gadgets and what is happening in tech industry in India.Your shows suck at showing that information. All you have is guys who talk about anything but gadgets. Finally when they show the gadgets its like a commercial its over before you see it. They have four host to show a 20 minutes program, in that two girls.Thank god for tata sky plus now i fast forward most of the show, like their introduction jokes etc. Out of a 21 minutes show i watch around 5 minutes of content. Then there are show that are like infomercials. On cell guru there is a Nokia n96 widget section that i don’t understand the point of. And for the host of Cell guru you are on Tv man fix yourself up.Even i can do better than this, if Tv guys are reading this give me a call.Until then watching web for my gadget news.

Delhi 6 movie review

Its been quite a while since i saw a good movie especially in Hindi. So i really was surprised how good Delhi 6 turned out to be.

Its such a good take of how the current India is functioning and how the politics are taking over communities that were once harmonies. If this would have won an Oscar i would be really proud of it.

I am not going into the story line because it has many twist that you will enjoy it very much.

It shows all the aspects of India, communities, religion, spirituality, traditions, and the new generation etc.

All the actors and the support artist do justice to their role. Even the Kala Bhandar does its part without ever showing up.

This movie has everything comedy, story, songs and the most important thing a very good message.

If you love movie you have to see this movie. After this movie i saw Billu the barber which was so bad that it makes Delhi 6 even more special.

The songs are by A.R.Rehman (double Oscar winner) and he doesn’t disappoint with any of them. A must watch movie for all Indians.

Slumdog Millonaire should we be proud of it

Unless you were out where there were no tv’s, papers, mobiles you might not have missed the news that this movie has won 8 oscars for 10 nominations it received. In those it includes the coveted best picture and best director trophies too. I am happy and all that but should we be proud of that.

First of all it was a movie mostly made by british technicians and directors. There were some indians involved too but look at the prizes other than the music and sound editing all the awards went to technicians outside India. Even though the story was written by and Indian it doesn’t make it an indian movie. Should we be proud that, none of the film industries in India found this story interesting to make a movie it took people from outside India to make such a movie? What does that tell us about our own movie industry? I don’t have anything against any British technicians or the indian technicians who worked on this movie. All I am saying is this movie was not made for indian audience and doesn’t come from the indian film industry.

The content of the movie also should not make us proud. It showcases the poor and poverty and intolerance of India. Which I don’t claim doesn’t exist, but I would have been more happy if it showed the communal harmony that most of the indians live in? And the tolerance of people against multiple faiths, cultures, etc.

I am happy that this movie won awards but I am not proud of it. When a movie that was meant for indian audience done by the indian film industry with leading indian actors then I will be proud of it. Even if it won in foreign language category. Something like Lagan or Chak De, would have made me proud.

But i am happy for all involved in Slumdog millionaire.

Breaks many hearts

Kavya Madhavan got married few days back. Its sad to see such a beautiful women leave movies. But i am happy for her, and hope she gets all the happiness she wants from her married life.

I will surely miss her, i think her best movie i like was Meesa Madhavan. I don’t think she will be doing anymore films so its kind of sad in that respect.

But happy for her and best wishes to her.

Ghajini Hindi

Amir Khans new movie Ghajini is breaking all kind of records. Its earned as much as 200 crore.

Ghajini Tamil

The tamil version of the movie was not such a big hit, it was a hit but not to the extent the hindi version is. So who is the reason for hindi movie sucess, the director or the actor.

Because the same guy directed the two movies, it has to be actor Amir Khan who is making the difference this time.

Ghajini’ producer presents gold statuette to Aamir Khan, which reportedly cost the producer close to Rs.7-8 million. Director A.R. Murugadoss was given a statue too.

Go here to see the bollywood box office
